A MT in Singapore without a medical background but with a weekend certificate course is not qualified to give comprehensive treatment, let alone, management of pain due to the level of education/ training. A MT wouldn't know how to do differential diagnosis, evidence-based approach, & applying of orthopaedic manual therapy, & assessments.
Segmented manipulation techniques of the spine(eg cervical spine, sacroiliac joint, thoracic spine, lumbar spine) leaves a high risk for clients/ patients with pain due to skills red flags that are not taught in detail to assessment, acquisitions of manual therapy techniques skills, & an eclectic approach. Chiropractic physicians, physical therapists, sports medicine practitioners, & other qualified clinicians are best for assessment, treatment, & management of disorders of the spine or pain as it lowers the risks involved with legal suite. Furthermore, a manual therapist is not a recognised title in Singapore, & this doesn't cover insurance nor professional practise indemnity is available.
