Welcome to Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Manipulation Clinic
A little about IASTM
Unlike Gua Sha, IASTM is used to assist manual therapists to quickly scan for tissue dysfunctions. This course will teach participants how to use the tool to scan for adhesions/ scar tissues and then proceed to manipulate them. Participants will also learn how to integrate tools for pain reduction and in helping with rehabilitation processes along with increasing ROM.
Course description
This course will teach participants about our IASTM and its application on patients. Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Manipulation or simply IASTM is a new range of tools which enables clinicians to efficiently locate and treat individuals diagnosed with soft tissue dysfunction. IASTM is performed with ergonomically designed instruments that detect and treat fascial restrictions, encourage rapid localisation and effectively treat areas exhibiting soft tissue fibrosis, chronic inflammation, or degeneration. With any manual therapy treatment, supplementation exercises and additional modalities (e.g. joint mobilisation) designed to correct bio-mechanical deficiencies by addressing musculoskeletal strength and muscle imbalances throughout the entire kinetic chain, should be used in conjunction with IASTM. If you do any type of soft tissue work in your practice or you are interested in adding a new tool to your skills, then this IASTM clinic is for you.
Course aims
This course is specifically designed for anyone who wants to learn the fundamentals of soft tissue manipulation and how to integrate these into your current practice and repertoire of skills. It will help participants learn how to best assess their patients to maximise treatments. You will learn many evidence based techniques to help treat, release and accelerate the healing time for your patients, clients and athletes. It will also enable you to select the most practical tool for your applications. You do not even have to purchase our tools in order to learn the different techniques used with other types of IASTM, the techniques we teach are very versatile.
The Tools
The tools have been intentionally designed for comfort and practicality for practitioners as well as patients. Ergonomically friendly angles have been created to allow movement around different parts of the body, so that you don't have to carry too many tools with you. We have added a few tools for preferences, suitability of practices and pricing for those who want to start but aren't too sure which will work best for them just yet. Made out of surgical grade steel, our tools are easy to clean and handle, and best of all, they are hypoallergenic for use on all skin types. Medical grade surgical steel is used to allow the best feedback for both the practitioner and client.
Course Outcome
Participants will be able to correctly and confidently use the tools for clinical treatment. Be able to seamlessly integrate the new skills into current practice. Correctly identify, address and modify techniques for treatment. Have a strong understanding of how to use any IASTM tool on the market, apart from the Toolang.
